We’ve been in Toronto for more than a year now and amazingly haven’t really experienced winter. Last January I remember only one snow that left anything on the ground, and today, probably exactly one year later, snow is falling for the first time this winter and sticking on the ground. But we’re only talking an inch or two, so still nothing major. I expected far worse in Canada, but we’ve lucked out so far. Today is a U.S. holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., so no work today. The snow makes it an even better day for staying inside, so the timing of the holiday worked out well. Last year on this day I had the chance to talk to junior high students about Dr. King and Rosa Parks in honor of the day, but no such engagement this year. I’ll reflect on the amazing life of Dr. King with my family at home this year instead. I always wonder what the world would have been like had his life not been cut short. An even better place for sure.

•January 14, 2007 • Leave a CommentI’ve admired the blogs of others long enough. I think it’s finally time to get into the game and give this a try for myself. I’m not guaranteeing this will be the most exciting thing in the world, but it seems a lot of exciting things are happening around me and I want to try to share them with the friends and family who might be interested. I realized over the holidays that I’ve been terrible at keeping in touch with people and didn’t even manage to get a Christmas letter out this year. Maybe this will be the solution. It’s worth a try.
It’s almost dusk in Toronto, so I thought I’d share a lovely picture of the city skyline at this time of day.
